Denielle {Editor | Photographer | Coffee-Maker}

It was the end of October 2010, and Patrick’s digital editor left him high and dry in his busiest period. Those of you who know Patrick, and how he operates, know that this is a total disaster!

Let me explain: Patrick is a photographer, I think it is safe to say that he has ‘the gift’ - he can take a beautiful picture and most of the time little editing needs to be done on his images. He comes from the days of film, where you shoot your 5 rolls of 36 frames, take it to the lab for development, and 4 days later you walk out with a folder with ± 200 photos. Done and dusted!

When digital cameras started taking over, Patrick held on to his film cameras and refused to conform…but in the end he felt defeated, and had to move over to the ‘unknown’. With this move he made the decision that he would still concentrate on taking the photos, and will employ a full time digital editor - someone with the skill and knowledge of Photoshop, colour, light - and that person would become an integral part of his business.

So the search started…first it was a freelance editor, who did a good job, but Patrick really wanted someone in the office. Since we were already 3 working in the small home office, the decision to employ a full time editor wasn’t the easiest one to make. Whoever came to work had to be able to ‘tolerate’ Patrick’s workload, but also had to ‘fit’ in…there were a couple of hits, but more misses, and it is here where I take you back to where my story started, with an editor leaving us high and dry and Patrick in a flat spin!

So he started contacting friends in the industry, and one recommended he contact Denielle, who used to work for Pro-Lab (so has an amazing knowledge of printing) and studied photography herself. Denielle came in as the ‘stand-in’ until we find someone suitable to carry on full time…

It is December 2014, 4 years and 2 months after she walked into our office to ‘help out for now’ and she is still here! From the start she seamlessly fitted into our little office-family, working hard and quickly learning what type of editing Patrick wants from his editor. She is not only an employee, she has become part of our family. Has moved offices with us, looked after our kids when we had a crisis, fed our dogs when we were away…with having an office at home, whoever works for you become a part of that life whether you want them to or not, and we couldn’t have asked for a better person to be part of our mad life! She fits in PERFECTLY!

Denielle has since partnered up with Patrick, and under the name, Patrick Furter the STUDIO, is commissioned to photograph her own weddings, maternity and newborn shoots. We absolutely love the work she does. She brings her own style of photography to the Studio, but portrays the same classic, timeless and elegant photography that Patrick is known for.

Denielle, words fail when we want to thank you for everything you’ve done for us in the past 4 years. We hope that you’ve found a happy workplace here too, and hope to have many more years with you here!

Thank you a million times over!

Love,
Lizelle & Patrick

Here is a few samples of Denielle’s work which we are super proud of! I think this is a second time that I can safely say…’This girl has an eye…’

Francois & Chané {Engagement Shoot}

I have some much fun doing these engagement shoots! You can see how the couple start to relax in front of the lens the more time we spend together, and at the end of it, they always tell me that now they can't wait for the wedding photographs!! Love that :-D

Here are some images of Francois & Chané which we did at Chez Charlene. And also a very short, very cute Stop Motion film.....
